BEIJING (AP) – Elana Meers Taylor became the first American to compete in the Olympic monobobe at the 2022 Winter Games. She finished third after the 1st race.

Meyers Taylor dominated the singles discipline, in which drivers work without a brake, but she also goes out for a week in isolation after being given a positive test on COVID-19 on Jan. 29.

The three-time Olympic medalist had to give up the flag bearer’s place at the opening ceremony. The coverage of the bobsleigh will be combined in prime time with the start of the men’s giant slalom, where American silver medalist in supergiant Ryan Cochran-Siegl is chasing his second medal at these Games.
