Virginia Senate Democrats are killing reputable weapons

The Virginia Senate-led committee has won several Republican-sponsored firearms bills.

Richmond, Virginia (AP) – A Virginia Senate committee led by Democrats has won several Republican-sponsored firearms bills.

Among those rejected on Monday was a measure that would repeal a law that allows authorities to temporarily confiscate weapons from people they consider dangerous to themselves or others.

Republican Party of Del. Marie March called the “red flag” law passed two years ago an insult to the constitutional rights of Virginia residents when she asked the commission to take action to repeal it.

Proponents said the law is reasonably used by law enforcement agencies in jurisdictions across the state and across the political spectrum.

Measure March was defeated 9-6.
