A man from Lisburg who allegedly killed an Ashburn woman in her home before fleeing to Dubai has been caught and returned to Laudan County.
A man from Lisburg, Virginia, is wanted in connection with December 2021 the murder of Ashburn’s wife in his home, before fleeing to Dubai, is again in Laudan County and will be tried for murder.
The Laudan County Sheriff’s Office said Furkan Sayed, 40, fled the country four days after he allegedly killed 57-year-old Najat Chemlali Hood at her home on Horse Marie Terrace on December 30, 2021.
Late Thursday, the sheriff’s office said Sayed had been caught in Dubai by the Dubai Police Department, UAE Interpol and the U.S. Marshals Service. He was taken back to the United States, and held without bail at the Laudan County Isolation Center.
Sayed is charged with first-degree murder, entering a house with intent to commit murder, shooting while committing murder, and three counts of charges of using firearms while committing a crime.
While Sayed was on the run, 54-year-old Abdul Wahid of Lisburg was accused of aiding and abetting before and after the murder. The Laudan County Attorney’s Office alleges that Wahid drove Saeed to and from Hood’s house.
Earlier, the sheriff’s office said that there was a connection between the suspects and the victim, but did not specify.
