ROANOKE, VA. – Roanoke City and Allegany Health Districts are encouraging women to take care of their health.
Apparently, the pandemic has made many people forget about the resources that neighborhoods have to offer.
Vaccines were in the spotlight during the height of the pandemic, but now they want to return to primary care.
RCAHD hosted a Women’s Health Fair with 30 vendors featuring many women-owned businesses.
Health care providers and outreach staff provided information about safe infant sleep and access to resources such as Medicaid and child care.
“We think it’s really important for women to take care of themselves,” said Christy Wills, communications officer at RCAHD. “Perhaps this pandemic has prevented people from seeing a doctor regularly. It may have prevented them from getting those routine medical visits that are so important for good health.”
Districts also provided free COVID vaccinations and on-site STI testing.
