Small plane crash in Shenandoah Valley kills pilot, investigation underway

ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that one person has died in a plane crash that happened in the county Wednesday night.

Rockingham County Sheriff Brian Hutcheson said the pilot, who was the sole occupant of the small single-engine plane, was killed in the crash.

The plane crashed around 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, in the Union Springs area of ​​Rockingham County, located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley.

Hutcheson says the Federal Aviation Administration and Virginia State Police are investigating the incident.
