Six people were injured in a tractor trailer head-on accident on Maury Road

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Six people were injured, two critically, after their car crashed head-on into a trailer on Maury Street early Saturday morning.

At approximately 1:02 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, Richmond Police officers were called to the Maury Street roundabout at E. 4th & Maury Streets for a report of a head-on collision. When officers arrived, they found a car with extensive damage and seven people inside. Six passengers were injured.

The car was packed with people and was traveling eastbound on Mawry Street, police said. After that, the passenger car entered the westbound lane and crashed head-on into the tanker truck. At that time, the tractor was leaving the roundabout onto Maury Street.

Passengers of the car were taken to a local hospital. Richmond police said the two passengers were initially considered to be in non-life-threatening condition, but have now been downgraded to critical but stable condition.

The driver of the tractor remained at the scene, the police report.
