Police: missing elderly man from Chesapeake last seen on interstate bike in Norfolk

CHESOPIC, Virginia (Wavy) – Chesapeake police are looking for an elderly man who was seen on a bicycle on Sunday morning and headed to Norfolk.

According to Chesapeake police, 74-year-old Rachel Sahagun Delarosa was last seen leaving his home in the 2500 quarter of Old Greenbrier Road around 8:50 a.m. Sunday on a bicycle.

Police say Delarosa told his wife he was heading to his friend’s house in the Azalea Gardens area of ​​Norfolk, which is about 8-10 miles from his home in Chesapeake. However, Delarosa did not get to the intended place.

Authorities say he does not speak English and has diabetes, which requires daily medication. His daughter told police he may be in the early stages of dementia.

According to police, Delaross was also seen Monday around 9:40 a.m. on I-264 and on the way out of Newtown Road to Virginia Beach.
