AUGUST – Virginia state police said a Crimean man died in an accident over the weekend, according to a press release.
Police said two cars were involved.
On Saturday at 12.08 police responded to the intersection of Hermitage Road and the Old White Bridge in the county.
Police said the 2007 Mazda 3 was moving east on Hermitage Road, and when it drove into an intersection with Old White Bridge Road, it was hit by a 2000 Dodge Caravan.
The driver of the van, 84-year-old Silver E. Madison of Crimea, was taken to Augusta Health Medical Center in Fishersville, where he died of his injuries. 80-year-old Shirley M. Madison, a passenger of the van, was hospitalized with minor injuries. Police said both were fastened with seat belts.
The Mazda driver, 56-year-old Michael A. Cole Jr. of the Stuarts Draft, was not injured in the crash. According to police, he was also wearing a seat belt.
The investigation into the disaster continues.
