Man accused in fatal shooting claims victim broke into VB’s home

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — New details are revealing what led to a shooting that left a man dead in Virginia Beach in early January.

A shooting in Stonecypher Court on the morning of January 13 claimed the life of 23-year-old Miek Faxon.

According to court documents obtained by 10 On Your Side, officers arrived at the scene around 3:30 a.m. and found the shooting victim lying in the yard with a gunshot wound to the chest.

The front bedroom window of the home was broken and a rock was found inside the home.

The man accused of shooting the victim told police he believed Faxon had broken into his home when his window was broken with a rock.

The man told police he recognized Faxon as a “criminal who had just gotten out of prison,” which made him afraid of him.

The man admitted that he shot the victim with a gun that he had at home. The man left the gun inside when he went outside to meet the officers.
