Lovebugs, the lovebirds at the West Virginia Museum of Science

ROANOKE, VA. – If you’re not a fan of chocolates or flowers on Valentine’s Day, you might want to check it out “Hiss and Kisses” at the West Virginia Museum of Science in Roanoke.

This is a unique fundraising event that allows you to name a Madagascar hissing cockroach after someone special.

So whether you love them or give them goosebumps, it’s only $6 and comes with a personalized card.

“You can have fun with it, it can be cute or someone you really don’t like, you can do that too. It’s also cheaper than therapy,” joked the museum’s Shannon Allen.

And for those looking for romance rather than revenge… the museum has a male and female bearded dragon exhibit.

Staff also noticed many pairs in the garden’s flock of parrots, so they launched a Love Bird Sponsor Fundraiser, which is new this year. It’s a bit more expensive, but the $100 fee also includes feeding tokens for a fun date idea.
