CRAIG COUNTY, VA. – Craig County Public Schools will be closed Monday, Jan. 30 so students and staff can attend the funeral of a beloved teacher.
Claudia Huffman died on Friday at the age of 71.
She has served the school department for more than 20 years in a variety of roles, including as a volunteer and soccer coach. The school division placed on its own Facebook page saying they have lost a special part of the Craig County Public Schools family.
Students are invited to her memorial service. It will take place at 2pm at Mount View Christian Church in New Castle.
The school district will continue to provide transportation Monday from the high school for students attending Botetourt Technical Education Center and Roanoke Valley Governor’s School.
