LEXINGTON, VA – Former Vice President Mike Pence opened the 28th Washington and Lee University Moka Convention as the keynote speaker for this cycle.
Each presidential cycle, the Mock Convention tries to accurately predict who the non-governing party will nominate as the candidate for President of the United States.
Pence said he is confident the Republican Party will regain power next presidential elections.
“A new generation of leaders is rising up across America, and I know we will take America back in 2024,” Pence said.
Pence addressed several issues during his speech and discussion with Fox News’ top political anchor Bret Baier, including war in Ukraineeconomy and January 6. One thing he continued to press is that the former vice president believes neither side of the aisle is discussing … the national debt.
“This is just the beginning of the debt crisis that your generation will face if they don’t face it today,” Pence said.
The start of the Mock Con came on the same day that many believed former President Donald Trump could potentially be indicted in New York.
Pence called the prosecution “politically motivated,” but he’s not calling for anyone to come out and protest the decision.
“If the president does indict Manhattan, it seems to me like a politically motivated prosecution, but I think our voice will be heard in other ways,” Pence said.
Anticipation also continues to build as Pence officially announces his campaign to run for president in 2024. While speculation continues to mount, Pence said we should have a clearer answer in the next few months.
“I expect you’ll know what Pence’s plans are before the summer rolls around,” Pence said.
Of course, if Pence were to run, he would be up against his former colleague and boss Donald Trump. During the debate with Baier, Pence told the audience that he believes there will be better candidates than Trump in the election.
Mock Con will continue to monitor the decision of Pence and other potential candidates to have as much information as they need to make a prediction.
