Henrik County, Virginia (WRIC) – Students of Henrik County Public Schools and their families will be able to avoid wearing masks at school.
The school district sent a message to parents on Wednesday afternoon that students are encouraged to continue wearing the universal mask at school, but are no longer required. However, the federal mandate for masks for school buses will still be fulfilled.
This announcement is closely followed by the signing of a new bill by Governor Glen Yangkin, which gives parents the opportunity to refuse to wear a mask at school.
Youngkin originally issued an order to terminate the mandate of the mask in Virginia schools, but this caused legal problems and resistance from several school districts.
