Crews are responding to a gas leak on Wilroy Road in Suffolk

Suffolk, Virginia (Wavy) – Crews responded to a gas leak Tuesday morning on Wilroy Road near Route 58 in Suffolk after a construction crew struck a 1-inch pipeline.

Suffolk officials say it is in the 1700 quarter of Wilroy Road, near the ramp from Route 58. All lanes on that part of Wilroy Road and the exit from Route 58 to the east were closed as of 9:30 p.m. Traffic was redirected.

Columbia Natural Gas was headed to ensure the leak. The evacuation of the surrounding residents is not scheduled, but residents of four houses are asked to hide on the spot.

There are no victims, and there is no repair schedule at the moment.
