A village in Leesburg hosts its free annual Ice Fest on Saturday featuring world-class ice carvers in Loudoun County, Virginia.
The artists will begin their sculptures on Saturday morning. Festive events are scheduled from 12:00 to 16:00
This is the village at the ninth annual Ice Fest in Leesburg. The festival was not canceled in 2020, 2021 or last year as many events were due to COVID-19.
The Leesburg Village, which has a permit that allows patrons to stroll the grounds with alcoholic beverages from on-site restaurants and bars, will feature ice skating, interactive ice games including an ice corn hole, face painting, balloon artists, caricature artists and walking artists.
Entertainment includes a DJ as well as student performers from Bach to rock and the Loudoun Dance Academy.
Dozens of retailers and restaurants will also contribute. Conche will set up a s’mores station. Vino Bistro offers mulled cider. Many shops will be running festival discounts and sales, and restaurants will be offering cocktail specials.
The ice sculptures, some of the country’s top winners, include Chris Vaier, who is the event’s creative director. Wyer works for Ice Lab, a D.C.-based company that supplies ice sculptures for events. His past ice carvings have included animals and international landmarks.
The Village at Leesburg, located at 1602 Village Market Blvd., is one of the largest outdoor shopping centers in the region. It has more than 40 retailers, restaurants and other businesses.
A similar event Ice-travaganza will be held on Saturday, February 4th at Reston Town Center near the rink with ice sculptors, food and entertainment, and skating performances.
