Assistant teaching company Loudoun Co. accused of striking student

An assistant teacher at Ludun County Public Schools has been accused of assaulting a student.

An assistant teacher at public schools in Laudan County, Virginia, has been charged with assaulting a student.

Joshua F. Simons, 34, of Charles Town, West Virginia, was charged last week with hitting a child in class. An investigation was then conducted by the Special Department for Victims of the Laudan County Sheriff’s Office.

A statement from the sheriff’s office said Simons “created or inflicted … physical or mental trauma other than accidental”, which is an offense.

The child involved in the incident received minor injuries, but no further details were reported at the sheriff’s office.

On Tuesday, Simons surrendered to authorities and was later released on bail.
