As the District of Columbia revokes the mandate for the vaccine, Fairfax schools are postponing graduation ceremonies

Graduation in public schools in Fairfax County, Virginia, will continue as originally planned, now that Mayor Muriel Bowser has terminated the city’s mandate for a vaccine against COVID-19.

In Fairfax County, Virginia, graduation in Columbia County Public Schools will be held as originally planned now that Mayor Muriel Bowser has completed the city’s mandate for a vaccine against COVID-19.

Virginia’s largest school system said last week that she moved graduation ceremonies away from the DAR Constitutional Hall due to the city’s requirements for vaccination.

At the time, a spokeswoman said Fairfax County Public Schools had changed venues because the DC vaccine requirement “would not allow a number of students and families to attend the event, and we felt it was important for all students and guests to attend this event. an important culmination of the event ”.

But after the abolition of the mandate, graduation ceremonies at Langley, Madison, Marshall and McLean high schools will be held at the DAR Constitutional Hall on May 31 and June 1.

In the event that the mandate for the DC vaccine returns to the ceremonies, graduation will take place in high schools, the school system said.

Although earlier this week Bowser lifted the vaccine requirements for restaurants and other facilities, An extraordinary meeting of the county council is scheduled for Friday to discuss legislation this will renew the mandate for the coronavirus vaccine. Its adoption will require the support of at least nine board members, and it may not incur any costs.
