LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va (WRIC) – The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an orthopedic surgeon who was arrested last week on charges of forced sodomy.
66-year-old Michael O’Brien was found dead on Wednesday, March 3, in Laudan County, his remains were taken to a forensic bureau in Manasas for autopsy.
According to Virginia Police, there are currently no signs of indecent play, and O’Brien’s death appears to be self-inflicted.
Virginia State Police and the FBI have conducted a month-long investigation into O’Brien since January, over allegations of sexual assault made against him when he was an orthopedic practitioner in the Fredericksburg area.
O’Brien was arrested Feb. 25 and taken to the Rapahanak Regional Jail. After his arrest, police said they had heard from more people about an investigation into the alleged sexual assault.
