A student from Virginia was recognized at Biden’s address on the state of the Union

WASHINGTON (WRIC) – Joshua Davis, a 7th grader at Swift Creek High School, attended President Biden’s speech on the state of the Union on Tuesday night.

At 11 months diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, Davis and his family advocated lowering the cost of prescription drugs.

“All my life is all I knew,” Davis told a news conference in Culpeper on February 10. “I’m grateful that my parents are doing their best to make sure I have insulin.”

“Joshua, thank you for being with me tonight,” she said. “Joe and I are very proud of you. We hope it’s a birthday you’ll always remember. ”

Davis and his mother Shannon recently met with President Biden at an event with MP Abigail Spanberger in Culpepper last month.

“Virginia (and all of America) is so proud,” Spanberger said tweeted Last night. “Families don’t have to worry about how they can afford life-saving drugs – and Joshua is a champion in that.”
