A pedestrian is seriously injured after being hit by a car in Waynesboro

WAYNESBORO – A man was hit by a car and suffered serious injuries Sunday night in Waynesboro, police said.

The incident happened shortly before 7pm in the 100 block of East Broad Street.

Sergeant Jamie Dunn, a spokesman for the Waynesboro Police Department, said it is believed the unidentified man was trying to cross the street when he was hit.

The victim was taken by helicopter to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville. He was still hospitalized Monday, according to Dunn.

No charges have been filed. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
