NORFOLK, Virginia (Wavy) – The man is facing several charges after hitting another man on I-64 in Norfolk last night.
According to Virginia State Police, at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday in Norfolk on Sunday at about 2:20 a.m. on Sunday, the military responded to a car accident involving a pedestrian on the western lanes of I-64 east of Norwegian Avenue.
A preliminary investigation into the crash revealed that 23-year-old Donte Barlow was walking in the right front lane with a spare wheel in the direction of his vehicle when another car crashed into him.
State police say the driver of another car, 21-year-old Juan Urea, was driving west in the left lane at the time of the crash.
According to authorities, Urea crossed all lanes and hit Barlow on the right shoulder before leaning against a knitted wall.
Barlow died from the blow.
Urea was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a license and reckless driving.
